Supporters Demand Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of Ariana Grande are demanding that a individual who jumped a fence and grabbed the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney show in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.
A number of supporters also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was touched by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be launched on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, earning a pair for outstanding attire and production design.
