Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
