President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Guard Members to White House

President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The president said he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Changes

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event led the government to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she aimed to meet with his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
