LA Faces Historic High Temperatures Just Days Following Severe Winter Storm.
In the wake of significant rainfall that resulted in floodwaters across areas in the city, the City of Angels is now seeing abnormally warm weather for this time of year.
All-Time High Temperatures
During the day Friday, the thermometer soared to 91°F (33°C) in the city center, as reported by meteorologists. This easily surpasses the old record for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was set just last year.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were labeled on NWS charts for the region.
Public Health Advisories
Forecasters issued a warning that Friday's heat posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their guidance suggested:
- Staying hydrated.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
- Never leaving kids or animals unattended in a hot car.
An Extreme Weather Swing
This sudden spike in temperature arrives just after a intense storm system that battered the state earlier in the week. That storm delivered thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to mountainous regions, causing evacuation orders for many residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests some relief will arrive. Temperatures were expected to fall to around 16 degrees Celsius (61 Fahrenheit) in the city by late Friday.
Additional areas that reached 90°F were Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Elsewhere, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Camarillo, and Westwood were forecast to experience the high 80s.
In the coming days, central LA can anticipate weather in the eighties, with a further cooldown likely for the week ahead.
