New information has come to light regarding the tragic deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the home. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

After gaining access to the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and denied bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
