Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to contact the relevant police force.
